Yesterday we practiced what a democracy permits us to do-vote. Loyola School President and Vice President Election was the first event that took place yesterday morning. As class 9 students me and my friends had the priviledge to vote along with class 10. A class 10 student is elected President while two class 9 students as Vice-President. My friend Urja was standing for Vice President.
The Election began with Presidential election where each nominee spoke for a minute. After all 10 contestants spoke ballots were passed on and class 10 students cast their votes. Then commenced the Vice President Elections. It was the same procedure however this time class 9 students cast votes.
This was the first time I witnessed the election. The environment was something different and I felt the power I had, the power of voting. After all speeches were done and votes cast we were dismissed and we went to classes to continue with the days lessons. However we left the hall in a daze with a certain euphoria.
So this was the first time I witnessed an election. I certainly am proud to be a part of Loyola School Bhubaneswar which,by all means,is a democracy!
