2012:Truth or Hoax

For quite some time now we are all aware of the 2012 Doomsday prediction. This story began with a claim of a planet Nibiru much larger than the Earth, approaching the Earth. Nibiru is a name from Babylonian astrology. The Sumerains according to NASA scientists had very little understanding of astronomy and left no records. According to Mayan predictions the Earth would end on 21st December 2012, Winter Solstice. They used to predict and make a calendar for some millena. The time period is called long count. This calendar ends on Doomsday. However a new calendar begins from the next day. There are also speculations about a astronomical phenomenon called Polar Shift. There is link about it in the post.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Lhs7VR52Bg

It is belived that the Earth will be in line with the Sun as well as the centre of the galaxy which will lead to polar shift. Now a link of the video of NASA scientist Donald Yeomans of JPL's Near Earth Objects programme where he talks of these theories being wrong
Now if you try to look for images of Nibiru I think you should know this before hand

The great majority of the photos and videos on the Internet are of some feature near the Sun (apparently supporting the claim that Nibiru has been hiding behind the Sun for the past several years). These are actually false images of the Sun caused by internal reflections in the lens, often called lens flare. You can identify them easily by the fact that they appear diametrically opposite the real solar image, as if reflected across the center of the image.

This is from a interview of a NASA scientist.

I am sure you are as confused as I am, so to know the truth,I guess we will have to wait.....till 21 December,2012

Pressure Pressure!

"Children you are in class 8! Your ICSE is here!" Seriously....give me break. Yes, everyone has to go through this but I think they have just locked us in a pressure cooker and put the heat on high. Weekly tests, competitions and those dreaded terminals. It has got on my nerves!I love studying but this is more than I can handle. Everyday after finishing my studies I am extremely weary and tired....but I have got other things to do as well. I dont know whats going to happen with us the next two years. Although there is this excitement about being one of the senior most classes,we have been scared to death about the difficulties of next year. I dont detest exams either but studying 7-8 hours wasnt what I had anticipated. I have many classmates who dont study and get pass marks but my aim is above 90%. Ofcourse there is no way out and I am feeling better to have let it out. I hope I will get   manage to have the capacity to bear through it!
